Introducing Emmaus Bible Correspondence School in The Holy Land In 1938 Dr. R.E. Harlow, a young missionary in the Congo, became burdened by the need for a School in North America where people could gather for intensive Bible Study. As a result of this vision an Evening School was started at Toronto in 1941 and a Correspondence Course Department was introduced the following year catering for people of every age group and spiritual maturity. From these small beginnings has grown a work, which, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, has become the largest Bible Based Correspondence School in the world. Scores of Missionaries and Nationals in many lands sensing tie value of the home study method of Bible instruction, have made Emmaus Courses a vital part of their evangelistic and Bible Teaching Ministries. Harry L. Medrow introduced the Emmaus Bible Courses in Arabic into the Holy Land in 1961. He passed away in 1965 and the Emmaus work in the Holy Land ceased until restarted by George Khalil in 1975. Since that date over 50.000 courses have been distributed in the land in both Hebrew and Arabic, in spite of hostility to the gospel from other religious groups. In 2003 the courses were introduced online, to be studied on the website for the first time in Emmaus history. The idea was introduced to other Regional Directors in Europe in 2005 and since then a new multilingual website has been launched to enable the Emmaus courses to be studied online in other languages, including Arabic.
