Dear Praying Friends
“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.” Ps.107:1.
We have many answers to prayer for which to praise and thank our Lord. The work goes on and more prayer needs are featured here, but we take a moment to reflect on His goodness and faithfulness too.
Praise Him: All the books mentioned in the last letter have been shipped and reached their destinations (except to Syria) and we have Bunyan’s The Holy War (photo below) and the 5 new courses in our Nazareth office now. They are also in Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon. We are working on two more courses and planning to reprint 6 more in 2018.
Smart Phone and Tablet Bible Study Application.
Praise Him: This is up and running in several languages, the main one being Arabic and featuring 36 courses for study.
We have advertised it to many groups via Facebook. Pray that many, especially refugees, will use it and study the courses.
Praise Him: The new discipleship programme is proving very popular and is being used in a number of evangelical churches. It includes courses on how to study the Bible and how to reach others with the gospel and disciple them. Pray that the Lord will use it to bring great spiritual growth to the church in Lebanon.
Praise Him: The printing of courses in Egypt is enabling the books to be finished and distributed more economically. However the storage space is becoming over-loaded and Br.Hani is needing a new storage facility as we will be printing more soon. Pray for this.
Praise Him: I was visiting Amman in November and the Lord is blessing the hard labours of the believers there. They are very busy with daily personal visitation to both the refugees and the locals.
Many are coming to faith from different backgrounds and the assembly meeting place is often standing-room-only with 100+ in attendance! A second meeting has started up downtown. There is now an urgent need to find a larger meeting place. Pray for them to find one and for the Lord’s provision for the rent. Also pray for them to register the assembly officially to facilitate the publishing work and receipt of gifts.
In April we are planning for an Emmaus Regional Directors conference in Jordan to share and discuss present and future strategies. Pray for the preparations for this.
Praise Him: The airport finally opened and hopefully the books have now arrived. An American brother is overseeing the work at present but pray that a Sudanese believer may be involved at some point.
Praise Him: Despite having to cancel the summer kid’s camp, we are able to make the Christmas one without any restrictions. Pray for the preparations in progress now. The camp will be at the end of December.
Praise Him: The Lord has answered the prayers of months and years and we have finalised the purchase of the building that we mentioned in the last letter. We will take two floors of the building – together 700.sq.m (or 6,300 sq.ft) from the gifts that we had saved over the past 10 years. It is now in the process of being registered and as a safeguard, the payment is being held in a special account under our control, until the registration is complete. We do however have the keys and have already moved some of our books to store there. The two floors are an empty space and so we need to do a lot of work on them to make them fit for our needs and vision. We have many ideas for its use including of course offices, seminar rooms, bookshop/library, media studio, childrens/youth work and storage. This will be up for discussion in our next board meeting. Pray for the Lord’s provision and guidance in all these decisions.
Praise Him: At last we have some news on the court case for the compensation on the previous land purchase. On Nov.19th we were able to come to an out-of-court agreement through the help of a court-appointed official mediator. We will receive about 30% of the amount requested over the coming four months. The rest will be paid later on through the court arrangements. At least this first payment will help us as we start on the renovations to the building.
I will be sharing about the work in various upcoming ministry trips in Australia in January; England, Wales and Northern Ireland in late February (together with Bro.Ibrahim). Also with Ibrahim, we are planning to visit assemblies/churches in the Eastern Canada and Mid West USA region in September/October 2018. If you would like to have us share about the work in the Middle East in these areas, please contact us.
Wishing you the richest blessings of Christ this Christmas and for the coming year.
